Concordia Place Adds Third Location to Serve the Community

In 1981, a group of three mothers requested childcare options at Concordia Lutheran Church. In response, the church’s Seeley Avenue campus opened an after-school care center for 12 children. The decades that followed saw Concordia adding two preschool locations, NAEYC accreditation and programming for seniors and teens. Now, Concordia Place’s programs serve more than 800 children, teens, adults and seniors and many of these programs are delivered to clients at low or no cost.

A “social mission-driven organization,” Concordia Place is seeking innovative solutions that meet the needs of their ever-growing client base and the challenges of sustaining their programming, all the while creating a future where every child, teen, adult and senior has the opportunity to live their life to its fullest potential.

The Concordia Place team recently `opened their third location, Concordia Day, at 4809 N. Ravenswood. Concordia Day is a social enterprise, offering quality childcare and education to local children while supporting the overall Concordia Place mission. Proceeds from Concordia Day support the high-impact, multi-generational programs and mission of Concordia Place. The team hopes to operate a total of three Concordia Day locations by 2020.

Inside Concordia Day, families will find a bright, inviting space for children ages six weeks through three years. The center offers great resources for young learners like spaces for educational and imaginative play, environmentally conscious facilities and cleaning and a knowledgeable, nurturing staff.
